About GAAS

The founders of the Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium had several goals in mind when the event was first held in Chicago in 1996. The primary goal was that the net proceeds of the event would be used to fund scholarships for students pursuing careers in the automotive aftermarket. Over 1000 students have been beneficiaries of GAAS Scholarships since the program began.

Students who receive a scholarship and plan a career as an automotive aftermarket technician are eligible for a matching grant upon graduation from their program and after completing six months of employment in the automotive aftermarket.

In planning the agenda, the following goals were established to guide the planning committee in selecting speakers to address the Symposium.

  • To design a program where leaders in the automotive aftermarket industry could come together in one place, at one time and hear top industry figures present their points of view about the trends taking place today--and down the road in the next five years.
  • To invite speakers from outside the industry to tell of similar trends in the overall marketplace.
  • To invite someone who had a global point of view that could gaze into a crystal ball and tell of the worldwide trends over the next eight years.

The list of speakers who have addressed the Symposium during the past ten years is an impressive list of leaders from both within and outside the industry.
